Other payables should be recorded in the journal when an expense or liability is incurred but not yet paid. This includes accrued expenses like salaries, utilities, and taxes payable, as well as outstanding supplier invoices for non-trade items. Recording other payables ensures accurate financial reporting, proper expense matching, and better cash flow management. It is typically done at the time of expense recognition, invoice receipt, or at the end of the accounting period for adjustments.
